On other sites, I'm seeing mailing tube thicknesses referred to as "3-ply". What does that mean? Last Updated: 02/25/2015 |
The most common wall thickness for a "standard" mailing tube is .060" (1/16"). Paper tubes are made with "layers" or "plies" of paper. A generic assumption would be to assume a mailing tube with a .060" wall thickness used three (3) plies of paper that were each .020" thick. (.020" x 3 = .060"). Because the wall thickness is the only critical factor, not how many layers were used, we refer to everything by wall thickness, not ply. |
